One Drop Could Save a Life

Phi Theta Kappa is proud to announce a Bone Marrow Drive on Friday, February 13, 2004.  This drive is in memory of Joe Richardson, MCC Admissions Counselor, and in honor of Dan Putnam, brother of a Phi Theta Kappa officer.  As a result of the generous support of the MCC community through the Strikes Against Leukemia Bowling Tournament and individual donations, this drive is free of charge.

The Bone Marrow Drive will be located in the Forum, room 3-130, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  This does not involve giving blood; just a pinprick on the end of your finger is all it takes to save a life.  With a drop of your blood, your name and bone marrow type will be placed in the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry. The process of actually donating your bone marrow does not happen until a leukemia patient with the same type of bone marrow is found.  Due to the advances in medicine, donating bone marrow can now be accomplished by simply extracting naturally occurring stem cells from your blood.

The first step in making a difference in the life of a leukemia patient begins on Friday, February 13, 2004 between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm in the Forum.  Please take that first step!  Thank you.
