Governor David A. Paterson has directed that flags be flown at half-staff on Friday, December 10, in honor of Brooklyn resident Marine Sergeant Nicholas Aleman who died while supporting combat operations in Paktia Province in Afghanistan on December 5. He was assigned to the Deployment Processing Command-East at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
"On behalf of all New Yorkers I want to express our sympathy and condolences to the friends, family and fellow Marines of Sergeant Aleman," Governor Paterson said. "This brave young man served our nation with pride and distinction, and we will honor his dedication and his memory."
