Volunteers Still Needed for Event to Benefit West Webster Firefighters' Memorial Scholarship Fund

The MCC Foundation is seeking volunteers from the MCC community to assist with a computer and electronics recycling event hosted by Maven Technologies on Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MCC’s Brighton Campus. Cash donations received at the event will benefit the Lt. Michael “Chip” Chiapperini and Tomacz M. Kaczowka Memorial Scholarship.

Volunteers are needed to guide traffic to the recycling drop-off area in Lot H and “pass the boot” for contributions to the firefighters’ memorial scholarship fund. Maven Technology employees will be responsible for unloading vehicles and handling the old and unwanted electronics for recycling.

The scholarship was established in January to honor Chiapperini, MCC Class of 1989, and Kaczowka, an MCC student, whose lives were lost on December 24, 2012 while responding to a house fire as volunteers with the West Webster Fire Department. Students training at MCC’s Public Safety Training Facility and pursuing areas of interest related to fire protection careers are eligible for the scholarship.

We recognize that April 13 will be a busy day with the Office of Admissions event and the American Heart Association Heart Walk also taking place. We hope that you’ll be able to join us for this extraordinary opportunity to honor the legacy of two courageous community servants and members of the MCC family.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Mark Pastorella at extension 1509 or at  "
