Be Inclusive

What does it mean to be inclusive?  According to Dictionary.com inclusive is defined as an adjective, including the state limit or extremes in consideration or account, including a great deal or including everything concerned; comprehensive, that includes; enclosing; embracing.

In the diverse population of Monroe Community College can you imagine what it would be like if everyone only believed their own realities?  If the students in your class didn’t respect your opinion and even became argumentative  when you expressed ideas.  Can you see how this would be harmful to advancement and growth, as a person and as a population?  It is our obligation to relate to others, include others, respect and hear them in order to see the bigger picture.

Being inclusive means giving equal opportunities, not discriminating, respecting everyone, and valuing diversity.  We can be inclusive in many areas of our lives, at our jobs, with our friends, in our classrooms, while eating lunch.  You will be enriched if you make a point of including others and allow them to be a part of something.

In closing, I encourage you to watch this YouTube Video entitled:
