MCC Daily Tribune

Greetings of Gratitude

Thank you notes from across the campus continue to roll-in. The link is still open, so please submit your thank you here!!!

Joe Marchese Jr., Assistant Controller, was nominated by his father, Joe Marchese Sr. Normally, these notes of appreciation are anonymous, but it was easy to see who posted this one. #family. "Having a very weak grasp of computer technology but needing to quickly learn how to use technology to transition to online teaching, I needed tech assistance and needed it immediately, so who did I reach out to calm my nerves and help me with the tech part? My son, Joe, who is the Assistant controller. Joe felt my pain and came to my rescue with his 'don't worry Dad, you'll get through this-I'll help you to get through it' and he did and now I have (mostly) gotten through it. I now rarely have to contact him in a panic when some glitch (which I probably caused) occurs with my computer."

Marjorie Rolleston, ESOL/TRS adjunct faculty member was nominated because, "During the week classes were cancelled, while the full-time ESOL faculty had to devote their time to discussing continuity plans, CIS revisions, and other logistical issues, Margie trained herself in using Zoom and led multiple "practice" sessions with the other ESOL adjuncts to play with Zoom as both students and taking turns as hosts. Because of these sessions, 100% of ESOL faculty were able to lead Zoom lessons with their students starting the day we moved to online classes. ESOL faculty felt more comfortable and prepared for this transition in large part because of Margie stepping up to lend a hand. Margie, we all appreciate you!"

Rosanna Yule, Government and Community Relations was nominated twice, and both mention her tendency to work through the night. "Does Rosanna Yule sleep? She has been on top of everything, day and night. She has fielded dozens of requests from EOC colleagues and countless questions from her other colleagues and from students. Yet she has stayed as warm and patient as ever. And she still thinks strategically despite the pressure. I don't know what we'd do without her." And, "Whether it's a proverbial sunny or stormy day at MCC, Rosanna maintains her commitment to MCC with professionalism, tact, and grace. As the gatekeeper of communication, she works diligently to ensure that people inside & outside of MCC receive the most accurate, respectful, and thoughtful information. She encourages a team-based approach & leads by example. Not one to disclose her personal opinions, she informs group discussions by quietly but confidently expressing what she believes is the best approach for the College as a whole. Although most people don't realize it, during this pandemic, she has gone above & beyond the call of duty by putting in work hours while the rest of MCC is sleeping."
