Proposed Legislation Prompts WROC to Explore Programs that Support Student-Parents

Following an announcement from U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand regarding proposed legislation to increase funding for high quality child care for parents attending community colleges, WROC interviewed Anne Barker (Richard M. Guon Child Care Center) and Dr. Mary Ann DeMario (Institutional Research) about the potential impact increased support would have at MCC. The segment "Low to no cost programs for student parents," aired on January 15.

Operated by the MCC Association, the Guon Child Care Center opened in 1991 to serve MCC student-parents. MCC is one of only four community colleges in the nation selected to participate in the Single Moms Success Design Challenge.
