New ETS Brown Bag Sessions for October

Educational Technology Services invites MCC Faculty, Staff and Administration
to the following BROWN BAG LUNCH SESSIONS in October.

Sessions take place during COLLEGE HOUR (12-1pm) in ROOM 11-109 unless
otherwise noted.
These sessions discuss a variety of TECHNOLOGY TOPICS. No registration is
required--just show up!

FRIDAY, OBCTOBER 11
OFF-CAMPUS ACCESS TO LIBRARY RESEARCH DATABASES
Off-campus users can now log in to library research databases from their home
PC using their ID and password. Come to this session to learn how. Until
recently, these full-text and index resources were available only on campus.
Now you can find the information you need in the comfort of your own home.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 14
PDA's POLICIES AND SUPPORT
MCC recognizes that PDA's are now a tool used in the workplace and these
devices need to be proactively supported. This session will provide an overview
of the different types of PDAs on the market and their strengths or weakness as
a productivity tool. This session will also provide an overview of the
requirements and conditions of MCC's PDA support policy. Facilitated by Donna
Pogroszewski and Tracy Flansburg, ETS Communications and Network Services.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16
LET'S TALK: DIGITAL VIDEO TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS AND IMPLEMENTATION EXPERIENCES
This session is a fast-paced overview of production enterprise digital video
technologies and services available to today's educators. Applications
discussed include enterprise video streaming, nonlinear video editing, desktop
video conferencing, security applications, and web cameras. The presenters
facilitate an interactive session to gather the solutions being used by the
audience and share Monroe Community College's well-developed enterprise
solutions in each of these areas. Facilitated by Brett Thompson and Terry Keys,
ETS, and Nancy Mallory, VAPA.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23
LET'S TALK: MANAGING COMPUTERS AND TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP EFFECTIVELY
Managing personal computer total cost of ownership across the enterprise is a
challenging task facing all colleges. To do so effectively, a whole spectrum of
factors such as procurement, standards, infrastructure, deployment, support,
and reporting must be integrated into a college wide computer management plan.
The presenters facilitate an interactive session to gather the challenges and
solutions being used by the audience members and share Monroe Community
College's solution. Facilitated by Terry Keys, Dale Mallory and Brett Thompson,
ETS.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 28
LET'S TALK CONSTRUCTION
Monroe Community College worked with a team consisting of architects,
mechanical engineers, audiovisual consultants, and in-house departments to
define and refine technology for a new campus center and residence halls.
Topics covered during this session include mission critical redundancy, high
tech/low maintenance conference spaces, multimedia information systems, network
considerations, and zoned distribution of AV signals.
From concept and design through bidding and installation, have your technology
team actively involved with the entire process starting with this discussion.
