Consortium on College Men of Color Presents: Micro Aggressions:  Their Influence on Men of Color in Community Colleges

When: Thursday, April 21, 2016

Where: Brighton Campus:  3-130 (FORUM) & Damon Campus:  Room 4193

Time: 1:00pm to 2:30pm

Please join us for the last important webinar and discussion for this year on the webinar series from the National Consortium on College Men of Color.  These webinars are valuable information for educators who interact, supervise or teach students of color (African American, Latino, Asian, International and Native American).  We hope that you will be able to attend this session and provide important input to the open dialogue.

Micro aggressions are common, subtle, messages that communicate indignations. Typically, these messages are unconscious in nature. However, racial-gender and sexual orientation micro aggressions have an integral influence on students’ perceptions of campus climates as hostile, alienating, and isolating. Some of the common micro aggressions men of color face in the community college will be discussed in this webinar. Recommendations for faculty, staff, and administrative professional development also will be offered.

This webinar will be facilitated by E.J. Watkins on the Brighton Campus and Verdis Robinson from the Damon City Campus.

Mark your calendars for this very important webinar.
