2nd Annual High-Tech Career Expo - A Huge Success!

The 2nd Annual High-Tech Career Expo was held on Thursday evening, April 16, to a standing-room only crowd of over 250 students, parents, and educators.  The High-Tech Expo was a joint effort sponsored by the Technical Education Division and the Division of Science, Health, and Business; specifically these departments within those Divisions:  Applied Technologies, Engineering Technologies, and Engineering Science and Physics.  It was a great success due to the combined efforts of our colleagues in Admissions, Aramark, Building Services, Campus Events, Career Center, Counseling, ETS, and Marketing.

Bob Lasch, Program Coordinator at the Applied Tech Center, started things off with a welcome to everyone.  After a brief overview of MCC’s engineering programs, Bob then introduced the following speakers, each of whom was dynamic and informative:  Leslie P. Bamann, Coordinator, Regional Skills Alliance; Megan Shay, former optics entrepreneur and consultant for emerging technology planning and management; and Douglas K. Woods, President, PARLEC, Inc. (Manufacturing).

The following companies exhibited materials, and representatives were on hand to speak with students and their parents:

Ashley Audio
GE MDS
Yoh Managed Services
Eastman Kodak
ET Precision Optics
JML Optics
Optimax Systems
Rochester Precision Optics (RPO)
Sydor Optics
Precise Tool
MWI, Inc.
Society for Plastics Engineers (SPE), Rochester Chapter
Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturing Enterprise (FAME)

The feedback received from students, parents, speakers, and industry representatives was very positive!
