Student Resource Center Upcoming Events

October is not only “refund” time, but it’s also MCC’s Financial Awareness Month in the Student Resource Center.  We have budgeting tools available to assist students with determining how much in student loans they really need to borrow instead of automatically accepting the full amount.  We can also help you s-t-r-e-t-c-h your fall refund until spring semester refunds are issued and show you where to get a “free” credit report.  Not only is printing and monitoring your credit report the best way to protect yourself from identity theft, but many employers review credit reports as a part of their hiring process so having errors or negative items on your credit report can impact your employability.

We will be offering Financial Awareness workshops On October 14th and 30th from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. to provide information on how to set up and maintain a budget, and print your credit report.

A representative from Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Rochester will be here from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013.   Consumer Counseling Service offers a variety of financial services from debt management to credit and bankruptcy counseling.  Stop in and find out more on budgeting and how to build good credit!

Attached is a flyer with our upcoming events and walk-in hours.  One-on-one appointments are also available for those who are unavailable during our workshop or walk-in hours.  Contact Edie Horwath at HYPERLINK "
