Spanish Director to Present His Latest Short Film

Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the screening of the short film “Zombi,” followed by a presentation and question-and-answer period by the film’s screenwriter and director David Moreno.

WHEN: Thursday, April 25th from 2:00 to 3:30 PM

WHERE: Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center, Forum (3-130)

Mr. Moreno, a Spanish screenwriter and director, will be in Rochester to participate in the Rochester International Film Festival.  He has agreed to screen his film at MCC, sharing cultural aspects of his work and his experiences as a film maker. Born in Villarrobledo (Albacete, Spain) in 1977, David Moreno studied Audiovisual Communication at Madrid’s Universidad Complutense. He wrote his first screenplay, “Remolinos” (Swirls), under the auspices of the Canal+ Guiones project (Canal + Spain). Ever since then, he has been combining writing feature film scripts like “La Boda” (The Wedding), second winner of Spanish Television Academy’s Pilar Miró Prize, with screenplays for successful television series and working as a director on music videos and commercials. In 2009 he wrote and directed his first short film, “Socarrat”, selected in more than 200 festivals worldwide and winner of more than 60 awards.

The short film “Zombi” is about a Spanish family that has an aging parent who’s suffering from dementia living with them. His memory loss and the need for constant care put pressure on all the members of the family. It’s a thought-provoking film that tackles important topics such as family ties, aging and dying.

This event is sponsored by the Liberal Arts Division, the Psychology and VAPA Departments and the Office of Student Life and Leadership Development.
