Cyber Security Certificate Program Garners Coverage


WHAM (AM) 1180 radio yesterday interviewed Dr. Javier Ayala, dean of Career and Technical Education, about MCC’s new Cyber Security certificate program, which was recently approved by the MCC Board of Trustees.

The interview was scheduled to be broadcast at 6:05 a.m. and possibly 8:05 a.m. today (June 27).

Recognizing that the demand for workers with cybersecurity skills will increase as businesses and governments invest more heavily in protecting critical cyber infrastructure, area employers say there is a growing need for education and training for job seekers and for incumbent workers wanting to stay current in their field.

To address the industry’s workforce needs, MCC has developed a Cyber Security certificate program to prepare students for employment as specialists in information assurance, network security and cybersecurity.

The certificate program is anticipated to be offered in fall 2013 pending approval by the State University of New York and the New York State Department of Education.
