I am sad to inform you that retiree Catherine A. “Cathy” Jurs passed away on January 3, 2015. Cathy served as operations manager for Computing Services prior to her retirement in 2003.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, January 8 at St. John the Evangelist Church of Spencerport (55 Martha St.). Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 55 Martha Street, Spencerport, NY 14559 in Cathy’s memory.
She first worked for MCC in the mid-1970s as a senior key punch operator. She left MCC in 1974 to work for BOCES. She returned to MCC in 1981 and served as a computer operator, and was promoted to senior computer operator several years later. Her knowledge, quality work and dependability led to her promotion to operations manager for Computing Services in 1998. She will be remembered for her willingness to learn new things and to assist colleagues and students.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; infant daughter, Kimberly; parents, James and Ann Dyer; and brothers, William and John Dyer. She is survived by siblings James, Thomas (Cindy), Michael (Eileen), Joseph (Judy), and Mary Dyer.
