CIVITAS Insights: Nudge Campaigns

With the CIVITAS suite of products, MCC has been able to complete eight nudge campaigns so far this spring semester. Utilizing Illume Students, a predictive analytics product, we have the ability to take action quickly, efficiently, and with confidence that we can positively impact student persistence outcomes by sending customized communications with mindset and mattering messaging to targeted groups of our students. We have learned that "getting to action" is the most important step in impacting student outcomes.

When an MCC nudge team meets, we keep four things in mind:

  1. Don't overthink it--start simple
  2. Focus on the human-to-human connection
  3. Language matters--be creative!
  4. Go wide--send nudges to the biggest groups possible to have the greatest impact!

It's also important to have the right people serve as the nudge "host" to personalize each outreach campaign. Thank you to Holly Preische, Matthew Lawson, Brigitte Martineau, Eraj Basnayake, Betty Stewart, Dan Robertson, Kimberly McKinsey-Mabry, Mike Jacobs, Rebecca Griffin, Gary Graziano, Kevin French, Jeffrey Dunker, Aaron Bouyea, Katie Ghidiu, Sheila Manns, Gretchen Woods, and Shirley Provost who have partnered with us to put a real person behind every one of our outreach campaigns!

Curious to learn more about CIVITAS nudge campaigns and the power of predictive analytics--contact us to come present to your department or team.
