Annual Kristallnacht Program to Feature International Law Expert

Save the evening of Thursday, Nov. 8 for the college's 16th annual Kristallnacht program, hosted by the Holocaust Genocide Studies Project. This year's keynote speaker will be Professor Michael P. Scharf, director of the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. The event will be held in the MCC Theater, Bldg. 4, and is free and open to the public.

In 2004-2005, Professor Scharf served as a member of the elite international team of experts that provided training to the judges and prosecutors of the Iraqi Special Tribunal. In 2006 he led the first training session for the prosecutors and judges of the newly established United Nation’s Cambodia Genocide Tribunal. Scharf and the Public International Law and Policy Group, a non-governmental organization he co-founded, were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 by six governments and the prosecutor of an international criminal tribunal for the work the assistance they provided for the prosecution of major war criminals, such as Slobodan Milosevic, Charles Taylor, and Saddam Hussein.
