Student Day - OPTIFAB 2021 "Optics Manufacturing Conference and Exhibition"

Student Day at Optics Manufacturing Conference and Exhibition

Free admission, activities, and transportation for MCC Students, on Thursday, October 21, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. See precision optics manufacturing equipment in action, learn about optical manufacturing, and speak with over 100 optical fabrication companies at the Optifab Conference Exhibition at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Optifab is the largest optical manufacturing conference and exhibition in North America and it takes place right here in Rochester every two years!  On Thursday, October 21, conference sponsors are offering students free admission to the Exhibition including a welcome by industry leaders at 10AM and a free sandwich box lunch from 12-1PM in the exhibit hall. The University of Rochester Institute of Optics SPIE Student Chapter will also be hosting demonstrations and “Photon Games” competitions 10:30AM-12:00PM.

College van transportation between the Brighton campus and the Convention Center will be provided by Optical Systems Technology program staff. The MCC Optifab van will leave from the front entrance of MCC Building 9 every 30 minutes beginning at 8:30AM, with the last shuttle leaving the convention center at 3PM to return to campus.  Masking is required on the van and at the conference!

Students who have not already registered through an MCC optics instructor should use the conference online registration system to create an account and sign up for the free "Exhibition Only" option at https://spie.org/OFB/registration. Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure an accurate lunch count.  Although students who register may also attend the Exhibition for free on Tuesday and Wednesday (10AM-5PM), Thursday, October 21st, is the only day with special programming for students. Upon arrival at the convention center, students should check in at the SPIE Registration Desk to pick up their name badge and conference bag.  Masking is required at the conference.

Faculty and staff wishing to attend the Optifab Exhibition October 19-21 should also register online at https://spie.org/OFB/registration (Exhibition admission for non-students is $50).

Questions about the conference or transportation may be emailed to optics@monroecc.edu.
