REMINDER: Sí, Se Puede: Latina Success Stories

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Leroy V. Good Library (Brighton campus) will be hosting a panel discussion, Sí, Se Puede: Latina Success Stories, this Friday, September 29.  The panel will feature an illustrious group of local women: Daisy Rivera Algarin, Chair of Latinas Unidas and an Economic Development Marketing Specialist for the City of Rochester;  Ana Galindo, Senior Research Analyst at Eastman Kodak; and Gladys Santiago, Vice President of the Rochester City Council.

The panelists will be speaking on the issues facing today’s Hispanics in education and the professional world, Latinas in particular. Each woman will have time to explain her own personal choices and struggles as well as address questions on the larger local and societal issues. The discussion will be facilitated by Jorge Alas, Assistant Professor in the ESOL and Foreign Languages Department.

The event will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on the fourth floor of the library, outside of room 2-452. We hope that you will join us.

On a related topic, please note that on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, the Diversity Book Discussion Group will be reading Brown: The Last Discovery of America by Richard Rodriguez. The book discussion will be held in room 2-440 of the LeRoy V. Good Library. All members of the college community are encouraged to attend.
