Hip Hop: Beyond Beats & Rhymes at DCC!


The Sociology Film Series at DCC will host a screening and discussion of Byron Hurt’s 2006 documentary, Hip Hop: Beyond Beats & Rhymes. 

“Taking the camera from the street to the recording studio to the corridors of industry power, Hurt elicits fascinating insights into hip-hop masculinity from ordinary kids, aspiring rappers, music mogul Russell Simmons….and prominent cultural critics such as Michael Eric Dyson” (from DVD jacket).
