Bernard Cooper Visits MCC Tomorrow for Two Readings, Book Signings

MCC's Creative Arts Committee presents author and essayist Bernard Cooper. Cooper will be doing a reading and book signing in the MCC Theatre, Building 4 on Wednesday, April 28th at 10:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Through a combination of memoir and fiction, Cooper explores how the writer finds identity by traveling the terrain of memory.  Growing up gay and middle class in Los Angeles, he writes of sexuality, familial relationships, loss, and AIDS.  Cooper has published two collections of memoirs, MAPS TO ANYWHERE and TRUTH SERUM, as well as a novel, A YEAR OF RHYMES.  His recent publications include a collection of short stories, GUESS AGAIN.  Cooper is currently working on a new memoir entitled THE BILL FROM MY FATHER.

Numerous awards and prizes are among Cooper's credits. These include: the PEN/Ernest Hemingway Award, an O. Henry Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Getty Center for the Arts and Humanities Fellowship.  He has taught at Antioch/Los Angeles and at the Writers’ Program and is currently the Art Critic for Los Angeles Magazine.

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
