Passing of Professor Emeritus John Paris

I am sad to let the MCC community know that we have lost one of those members who contributed to the well-being of the college during its earliest days.  Psychology Professor Emeritus John Paris, who died on Sunday, June 19, joined MCC in 1965 as chair of the Department of Registration.

John tackled several special projects involving institutional research and planning and development during the first years of his MCC career. He earned a Ph.D. in Instructional Communications from Syracuse University in 1970 and joined the Psychology Department in 1974. Over the next 30 years, while John dedicated himself to teaching, he also served on numerous college-wide committees and completed a stint as department chair. He retired in 2004.

John is survived by his wife Margaret; sons, Andrew (Meredith) Paris, Gregory (Gina) Paris, Timothy (Jennifer) Paris; eight grandchildren; brother, Donald (Sharon) Oppedisano, Frank (Paula) Oppedisano and many dear friends. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 23 at Good Shepherd Church, 3318 East Henrietta Rd. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Monroe Community College Foundation in his memory.
