2010 Salute to Excellence Recipient: Excellus BlueCross BlueShield

The Monroe Community College Foundation will award its prestigious Salute to Excellence award to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield at the 21st annual Salute to Excellence dinner Thursday evening, Nov. 18, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The award recognizes Excellus’s community leadership and philanthropy in support of public higher education, Monroe Community College and its students. Excellus President and Chief Executive Officer David H. Klein will accept the award on behalf of the company.

Excellus’s support of the MCC Foundation over the past two decades has had a positive impact on MCC students and our community. Students have received scholarships to attend MCC and benefitted greatly from expanded health and wellness facilities on campus. Our community has also been enriched through expanded and successful academic programs that graduate more registered nurses and radiologic technologists for Greater Rochester.

We are grateful for Excellus’ corporate leadership, their philanthropy and representation for nearly two decades on the MCC Foundation board– helping guide the MCC Foundation to consistently high rankings among SUNY and national community college foundations.

Excellus was also a lead corporate donor of the MCC Foundation’s PAC Campaign. Their gift helped to transform the student experience and provided much needed fitness, recreational and athletic space for MCC’s growing number of students. The PAC Center’s indoor track bears the company’s name.

Bradford C. Berk M.D., Ph. D, CEO of the University of Rochester Medical Center, will serve as the honorary chair for the event. John L. DiMarco II will serve as the dinner chair. In addition to an already magical evening, Master magician Brian Baskin will showcase fun and mysticism to all. Baskin will astonish, entertain, and actively involve guests with mind readings and magic.

The college community is invited to join in the celebration of leadership and philanthropy in our community at a reduced rate of $85 per person. (Individual tickets are $120 for the general public). The event will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the award ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the Salute to Excellence dinner support student scholarships and program innovation at MCC. For tickets and information, please call x1500.
