2003 UnitedWay/Red Cross Campaign at MCC

It is that time again! Time to kick off the United Way/Red Cross Campaign.

We usually associate the campaign with spring, and we hope that perhaps starting the campaign will bring about spring. The MCC campaign will kick off on today, March 20, 2003 (the first day of spring) and end on April 28, 2003.

For 2003, United Way needs you more than you know. "We take care of our own" is again our mission, but in order to do that, we need your help to improve the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families.

That's why the United Way of Rochester is here. They give us a vehicle to take care of our own. Now, more than ever, we believe our mission is to improve the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families in need. United Way funded programs pair children with adult mentors. They help parents take care of their children's special needs. They help people stay in their homes. They help sons and daughters find the strength and services to care for their aging parents. In addition, United Way-funded programs invest in people with disabilities, helping them see that their abilities far out weigh their disabilities.

Your support of the United Way makes it all possible. By giving to the United Way through payroll deduction, you make a year round gift that truly changes lives. During the campaign, please pay close attention to the literature and campaign video provided. These materials show exactly how your gift improves the lives of others in our community.

Your department coordinator has volunteered to work with you directly. We have set an aggressive goal of $90,000 for MCC. It is an ambitious goal, but our colleagues have been generous in the past and we know we can reach the goal, because of you.

Among the hundreds of thousands of donors, giving to the United Way Community Fund is the overwhelming choice for giving the United Way. They trust the decades long track record of sending the right amount of help to those who need it most, backed by volunteers who continuously evaluate the many funded programs. The United Way will receive some 800,000 calls for help in 2003. Several hundred will be from you and our colleagues in as many as forty different programs. We ask that you choose to share your gift by either selecting the United Way Community Fund or by choosing a designated provider with at least part of your gift going to the Community Fund. In either case, remember that 100 % of your gift goes to charity. None of your money is used for administrative purposes.

On behalf of MCC, United Way, and those who will benefit from your generous support, thank you for your gift!
