TCC: Kudos for Completing a Racial Equity Facilitator's training!

In October, Amy Burtner (ENG/PHL), April Daniels (ESOL/TRS), Rebecca Horwitz (PSY), Gena Merliss (TCC), Anjali Parasnis-Samar (Library), Mark Ricci (VaPa), and Alice Wilson (Library) participated in a 10-hour Racial Equity Facilitator's Training led by Paul Gorski (the Equity Literacy Institute) and Marceline DuBose (Due East Educational Equity Collaborative).

The TCC is committed to building our capacity to lead conversations around antiracism and diversity, equity and inclusion more generally. If you are interested in developing your own skills, please reach out to Gena Merliss (emerliss@monroecc.edu).

Visit the TCC's Blackboard site to access the Equity Literacy Institute's free asynchronous courses. As mentioned in a recent Trib article, last year, the TCC purchased a license for faculty and staff to participate in two longer courses offered by the Equity Literacy Institute: “Racial Equity and Education: Informing Ourselves, Transforming Our Schools” (~21 hours of content) and “Ditching Deficit Ideology: The First Step Toward Cultivating an Equity Commitment” (~4 hours of content). We still have a few licenses left if you are interested in those courses as well.
