This week about 80 pre-college science teachers from the area will be taking part in the initial Workshops for the Improvement of Science Education (WISE) in laboratories and classrooms on the Brighton Campus. Project WISE is funded by the National Science Foundation and will provide teachers with workshops to enhance their laboratory skills and knowledge base.
This year's Project WISE workshops and the faculty facilitators are in Biotechnology, James Murphy ; Ecology, Stephanie Dockstader; Chemistry, Rick Kuempel; Physics, Paul D'Alessandris; Earth Sciences, John Cottrell and Dan Robertson. Additional MCC personnel involved in Project WISE include John Cullen, principal investigator; William Ryan, project coordinator; Richard Connett, co-PI, Biology; Mary DiSano, co-PI, Chemistry; Carol Burritt, Computing, website design and instruction; and Susan Davis, Grants.
