Professional Development Opportunities on Campus – Using E-Reserves and Second Life!

MCC Faculty, Staff and Administration are invited to the following Brown Bag Lunch Sessions sponsored by Educational Technology Services. No registration is required – just show up!

USING E-RESERVES: ETS LIBRARIES MAKING ACCESS EASY!
Friday, October 3rd, 12-1pm in the Library Instruction Room (2-423).

E-Reserve (Electronic Reserve) is an easy way for faculty to have their course materials accessible on the web 24 x 7.  If you have PowerPoint presentations, class notes, class syllabuses, solutions, video clips, class presentations, audio clips, Excel files or articles that you'd like your students to be able to access from the web, then e-reserves is an easy solution. The library staff will scan documents, move items from the m-drive or email, and load materials onto course pages.  All materials are password protected so only your current students can access the materials.  Facilitated by Ellen Mancuso, ETS Libraries.

SECOND LIFE: LEARNING IN A VIRTUAL WORLD
Wednesday, October 15th, 12-1pm in Room 11-109

Second Life is a virtual world (<<https://secondlife.com/>> ) that is getting a lot of attention lately regarding its value and uses in education. Many campuses are beginning to explore this new “world” to discover what potential it might hold. Attend this Brown Bag Session to see what all of the excitement is about and learn about some of the activities that educators and MCC are planning in the virtual world. The following link offers more information on Educators in Second Life:<<https://secondlifegrid.net/programs/education>>. Facilitated by Terry Keys, ETS Instructional Technologies.
