Online Teaching Discussion Group: "I Hate Group Work"

Are you interested in incorporating online group work into your course? Not sure where to start? Have any of you already incorporated online group work and encountered challenges?

Come join us on Friday, March 2nd from 10 am-11:00 am to discover and discuss strategies of incorporating online group work.

This group is for anyone interested in teaching online, as well as those who web-enhance their courses, teach a hybrid course, and those currently teaching online. The purpose of this group is to gather in person together as online faculty, learn about best practices, and support our work within the online world.

We will listen to a recorded webinar (45 min) of Theresa Gilliard-Cook, the Senior Instructional Designer at SUNY Oswego, and she will discuss the current research regarding groups in online courses when considering online group work. Based on the research, our experiences, ideas and challenges, we can add to these suggestions that may help you and your students have a more positive and productive group work experience!

We will meet in the Virtual Campus Center Training Room in the Flynn Campus Center on the Brighton Campus (room 3-122, enter through 3-150). We will not be offering this group as a recorded session, however we can send you the resources by RSVPing to the event below.

Please RSVP at: https://bit.ly/onlinegroup

If you have questions about this group, please email Andrea Gilbert agilbert14@monroecc.edu or Beth Wilson mwilson42@monroecc.edu , co-facilitators of the Online Teaching Discussion Group .

We hope to see you on March 2nd!
