MCC's Massage Therapy Clinic will open on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006. MCC faculty and staff members will be able to schedule appointments -- before the general public -- by sending requests via email to the Massage Therapy Clinic <mailto:mtclinic@monroecc.edu> from Jan. 13 to 20 ONLY. Appointments should be made via phone to 262-1470 as of Jan. 23.
Faculty and staff members may schedule up to two advance appointments. Within your email, please include your full name, phone number (home or cell) and requested dates and times following the schedule below. Appointments may be scheduled for the following days and times from Jan. 30 through May 19:
* Monday and Wednesday evenings: 5:30 pm, 6:45 pm and 8:00 pm;
* Thursdays: 10:00 am; 11:15 am and 12:30 pm;
* Fridays: 9:30 am, 10:45 am, noon, 2:30 pm, 3:45 pm and 5:00 pm;
MCC Massage Therapy Clinic staff will confirm appointments. Appointment requests sent via email will not be accepted after Jan. 20.
Located on the fourth floor of MCC’s Damon City Campus (228 East Main St.), the clinic is designed to provide relaxation and healing in a supervised, educational setting. Patrons will receive a 55-minute massage therapy session from a soon-to-graduate student in the MCC Massage Therapy AAS degree program for $20 per session ($10 for students with college identification; patrons must be at least 18 years of age to receive services at the clinic). All sessions are professionally supervised.
Patrons can benefit from a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish and Western. In addition to relieving muscle tension and pain, massage therapy can improve one’s ability to cope with stress, enhance sleep and increase energy levels.
