History Film Series Begins Tonight

The History Film Series for Spring 2009 begins tonight, Feb. 9 ! The theme for this semester is the 1950s. The first film of the series will be "Good Night, and Good Luck".  This Oscar nominated 2005 film looks at the early 1950s when Senator Joe McCarthy was on a witch-hunt to get the communists in our nation. Television newsman Edward R. Murrow takes on McCarthy to expose his dirty tricks. This is an exciting, thought provoking film about the media's role in questioning our government's actions and methods.

The film begins at 6 pm in room 12-229. Instructor Mark Sample, History Dept. will introduce the film.
Watch for future films in this series: "The Long Walk Home" in March and "Quiz Show" in April.
