Classroom Updates

Over the summer on the Brighton campus, many campus wide projects enhancing the technology functionality and performance of classrooms have been completed.  Some highlights include:

-          A standard layout was rolled out to all classrooms on the Brighton Campus that use the Extron TouchPanel Control System.  This layout allows for a faculty member to move from building to building, room to room, and use the equipment in each room as if they never moved.  It helps our faculty by not burdening them with the need to learn multiple devices and/or ways of using them.

-          New “Cheat Sheets” are available for classroom technology that will be emailed to faculty and also found in the classrooms.

-          A switch over to a digital AV infrastructure was completed in the classrooms.   Currently in phase 1, we are tearing out old analog cabling in classrooms, cleaning them up, and preparing them for replacement which will be phase 2.  While we clean up the cabling, it also helps with the performance of the rooms as we remove old, exhausted equipment and cabling thus cutting down on AV issues in classrooms related to that.  This project will continue throughout the year.

-          Rooms that have been upgraded to technology-enhanced spaces:  11-232, 11-230 and ATC 118 have had SMARTBoards and new sound systems installed.
