Two former MCC Tribune basketball players will attend Division II universities next year. Phil Valenti, Pittsford, N.Y., and Mindaugas Boruta, Lithuania, have signed national letters of intent to attend Adelphi University in New York and Valdosta State University in Georgia respectively.
Valenti, team captain during the successful 2002-2003 season (record: 24-6), was the recipient of the Peter Pavia Scholarship, SUNY Chancellor's Award, and an honorable mention All Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC). He was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa at MCC. Valenti will transfer to Adelphi to study business and finish his basketball career. Boruta, who also previously served as a captain for the Tribunes, earned second team All-Region and All-WNYAC recognition. He plans to study computer science and play basketball at Valdosta State.
