Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School visits the Downtown Campus

On October 15, over 30 juniors and seniors from Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School (EMHCS) visited MCC's Downtown Campus for a College and Career Exploration program. Faculty, staff, and a current MCC student greeted the guests. The event was an opportunity for the students and staff of EMHCS to see the Downtown Campus and to learn about MCC's degree and certificate programs, athletics programs, available scholarships, and much more. In addition, we were able to build connections with our State Street neighbors! The EMHCS (grades 9-12) is now located at 343 State Street.

The Downtown Campus Student Engagement Center and Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services staff organized the event with co-sponsorship by the Latino Empowerment Network. The continued collaboration and everyone's cooperative spirit made this event wonderfully successful!

Many thanks to the following MCC community members for their assistance during the event:

Marisol Galarza-Ruiz, Professor, World Languages and Cultures
Julissa Gonzalez, Advisor, Career and Technical Education
Ray Otto, Coordinator/Recruiter, Applied Technologies
Corinne Shanahan, Counselor, Student Engagement Center
John Troy, Program Director, Skilled Trades and Industrial Tech
Paola Serrano, Student, Peer Leader
