MCC Presents 4th Annual Scholars' Day Saturday, April 28

“Learning never exhausts the mind.”
Leonardo da Vinci, painter, writer, inventor, geologist, architect, musician, mathematician,  scientist, sculptor and engineer

If Leonardo da Vinci was still around, he’d be in the front row at MCC’s 4th Annual Scholars’ Day – an event that explores blood vessels, robots, religion, solar energy, artistic censorship, prosthetic limbs and so much more.

Scholars' Day 2012 activities will begin Monday, April 23, with a screening of the National Geographic film, The Human Family Tree, at both the Damon and Brighton campuses. The Damon screening will be at 3:00pm in room 4151; the Brighton screening will be at 6:00pm in the Forum (3-130).

On Wednesday, April 25, Scholars' Day events at Damon begin at noon when the speaker will be Princeton University Philosopher Kwame Anthony Appiah. On Friday, April 27, the second annual Legacy Lecture series, which features retiring faculty member Terri Tugel, will be held at 3 p.m. in the Brighton Campus Theater.

Forty-four different sessions will be offered on Saturday, April 28 after a 10 a.m. keynote presentation by population geneticist, author and filmmaker Spencer Wells. We are encouraging all members of the college community to come and celebrate academic excellence and scholarship among MCC faculty, staff and students from a variety of academic disciplines.

Tickets for the Spencer Wells presentation are available online at <"http://www.monroecctickets.com">, at the Campus Center Service Desk in the Flynn Campus Center or at the DCC Bookstore. For further information, call the Office of Student Life & Leadership Development at 585.292.2534.
