Passing of Professor Emerita Julianna Furlong Williams


I am sad to inform members of the college community that Professor Emerita Julianna Furlong Williams, a dedicated teacher and committed professional artist, passed away last Thursday, Aug. 4 at the age of 66.

Julianna, who earned her BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and her MFA from Tufts University, began her MCC career as an adjunct assistant professor in 1986. Well-known throughout the Rochester art community for her talent and commitment to the arts, she was a longtime member of the Memorial Art Gallery and a member of the Rochester Contemporary since its inception as the Pyramid Arts Center. In 1989, she became a full-time MCC faculty member and in 2004 was promoted to associate professor. She retired the following year.

Julianna is survived by her husband Judd Williams, their son Jesse Williams, Judd’s son Scott Williams, a sister Joyce Clark and husband David as well as their three children.
