<p>Stop by the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights tabling event Monday of&nbsp;next week to discuss the prevalent topic of freedom and democracy. Learn about the importance of education, the catastrophic effects of banning books, and ways to give back to the innocent victims of the Ukraine. Students will be offering free copies of <em>Maus,</em> a novel recently banned in some US states, and accepting donations for the relief efforts of the Ukraine.</p>

<p><strong>Women&rsquo;s Rights Denied Under the Taliban</strong></p>

<p>Join visiting Scholar Sharif Hozoori from Afghanistan and Cornell University as he presents on the topic of Women&rsquo;s Rights being denied under the Taliban. Hozoori is an Institute of International Education Scholar, having most recently been Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at the University of Afghanistan. His research is on regional foreign policy and political instability in Afghanistan.</p>

<p><strong>Deliberative Dialogue on the War in Ukraine: How Should the United States Respond? &nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>The Democracy Commitment at MCC and office of Global Education and International Services are hosting a deliberative dialogue&nbsp;on how the United States can best respond to&nbsp;the current war in Ukraine. The dialogue will discuss three possible&nbsp;options and associated actions:&nbsp;Minimal Intervention, Continued Sanctions and Diplomacy, and Military Intervention. Attendees will&nbsp;collaboratively evaluate the&nbsp;issue and have the opportunity to&nbsp;consider the drawbacks and trade-offs associated with&nbsp;each option and action.</p>

Our goal is to promote understanding and goodwill between international students and their American counterparts. Students exchange ideas, provide cultural awareness to the student body, conduct trips to various parts of the United States and plan activities on campus together.</p>
