PTK Raises $1,087 For Hope Lodge

Students in the Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Monroe Community College raised more than $1,000 for Hope Lodge in Rochester.

As part of the Alpha Theta Iota chapter’s annual Bowling for Hope, 87 students and staff bowled strikes, spares and a few gutters recently for the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, a temporary residential facility that provides free accommodations to cancer patients undergoing treatment. Assisting in the fundraising effort were students from Phi Theta Kappa chapters at Finger Lakes (Canandaigua) and Onondaga (Syracuse) community colleges.

Phi Theta Kappa members, who need at least a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) to join and maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA to stay involved in the international honor society of two-year colleges, raised $1,087 at the fundraiser held at AMF Olympic Lanes on Scottsville Road in Rochester. The event was spearheaded by Alpha Theta Iota Service Committee Vice President Lisa Heininger (Greece).
