Reading Placements on 224 Placement Testing Screen

This is a reminder to all advisors that REA 100 (formerly TRS 104) and REA 101 are courses that are being strongly recommended but are not required (course descriptions can be viewed at:  https://www.monroecc.edu./depts/transitional/course-description.htm?REA+100 and https://www.monroecc.edu./depts/transitional/course-description.htm?REA+101).

You will see on Screen 224 (Placement Testing) in SIS that these two courses are listed under the "Required" column.  Due to lack of other options, this is the only column in which they could be entered.  The REA 100 and REA 101 placements are not listed in the "Placement" column because that column is used only for revised placements, and we did not want to make things more confusing by entering them there.  However, there is an asterisk to the right of the "Required" heading that refers to a Note that does appear lower on the screen (it is possible you might have to scroll down, depending on your screen size) which clearly states, "* Note: If a REA 100 or REA 101 placement appears in either column, this course is strongly recommended but not required."

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jeanne Hinkelman, assistant director of Counseling and Advising, at <mailto:jhinkelman@monroecc.edu> or 292-2263.  Thank you.
