Financial Aid Applications Workshop for March


Let your students know:

A.  If applicable, students need to bring the following documentation or information to the workshop:

1.   Student’s  2012 Federal Tax Return
2.   If you are a dependent student, Parents’ 2012 Federal Tax Return.
3.   Student’s 2012 New York State Tax Return
4.   Parents’ 2012 New York State Tax Return if you are under 22 years of age.
5.   You need to know the total amount of untaxed income received in 2012. If you, your spouse, or your parents (if applicable) received any untaxed income during 2012, such as child support you need report it in the financial aid application.

B.  The following steps will help students to be better prepared for the workshop

1.   Apply for the Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN) at "
https://www.pin.ed.gov/"www.pin.ed.gov. (and your parents if applicable)
2.   Print the FAFSA on the WEB worksheet at "
https://www.fafsa.gov"www.fafsa.gov to gather all the information needed to complete the application.
3.   Learn more about the Financial Aid process at "
https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/finaid"
4.   Have a valid e-mail address to receive information about your application.

C.  Students can accomplish the following procedures at the workshop:

1.   Apply for federal aid
2.   Apply for New York State financial aid
3.   Complete the Federal Student Loan Counseling (Entrance/Exit)
4.   Sign the Master Promissory Note for the Federal Direct Loans
5.   Check your Federal aid and State aid application status
6.   Apply for selective service
7.   Apply for scholarships at
