Come Celebrate Mother Language Day!

(Un)Spoken: A Celebration of Mother Language Day

Fact: 100% of individuals at MCC have a mother language. Why not share yours?

Join us as we celebrate Mother Language Day, a custom that began in Bangladesh in 1952 when university students protested for the recognition of their mother tongue as one of the national languages of East Pakistan. On March 5th, students, faculty, and friends will share their mother languages and dialects through various forms of expression: poetry, song, spoken word, storytelling, and more! We will also discuss the importance of mother/indigenous languages.

When: Monday, March 5, 2018

Time: 11:00am to 1:00pm

Where: PRISM Multicultural Center, Building 1 Room 108

Refreshments will be provided

Interested in sharing your mother language(s)? Email cdima@monroecc.edu by February 23, 2018. Please include your name, mother language, and form of expression. Group and individual sign-ups are welcomed. We also highly encourage participants with various dialects, creoles, pidgins, and accents to share as well!

This event is hosted by the Office of Global Education & International Services in partnership with the PRISM Multicultural Center.
