Provost McDonough Shares his Inspiring Book

Today is the day for the Inspiring Book Drive!

The MCC Library and Academic Services are hosting a faculty and staff book drive gathering on April 30, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the North Atrium. Please join us for coffee where faculty and staff will be encouraged to donate books and share a message on an "Inspiring every day" bookmark that describes how the book inspired them. This message, along with the book, will be passed on to the new owner. The event will support donating books to K-12 students in the Rochester City School District on behalf of the Rochester Education Foundation. Monetary donations will be accepted at the event.

Provost McDonough shares his inspiring book message:

For me, Tacky the Penguin will always remind me of the laughter of my daughter as a first grader. Tacky reminds us all of the joy of being unconventional. Tacky taught my daughter that to be a rebel and to follow your own creative path was the recipe for happiness and success. Reading this book with Elizabeth, let us both imagine a bright and unlimited future. And today, Elizabeth passes on the heroic story of Tacky to her own son.

If you are unable to make the event, no worries!

The Anime Club, Cabbages and Kings, and the Health, Physical Education and Wellness Club are coordinating a book drop-off during the dates of April 28, 2014 to May 2, 2014.  The student clubs will be encouraging everyone to drop off their gently used or new books at several key drop locations at the Damon City Campus and Brighton Libraries, Applied Technologies Center, and the Public Safety Training Facility. Look for the book drop-offs and encourage the entire college community to donate their new or gently used books to support K-12 students in the Rochester City School District.
