For decades, critical feminist scholars have analyzed media messages and other elements of culture that may contribute to the sexual victimization of children. The popular TLC television show, Toddlers & Tiaras, chronicles the phenomena of child beauty contests in the U.S. and has been critiqued for encouraging and rewarding children by objectifying them for their bodies and looks. We will explore whether this is just healthy competition or another example of pedophilia culture.
