Globalize Your Curriculum Faculty Development Series

Take advantage of the structure, the schedule & the collegiality that this series offers!

Three 50-minute sessions allow you to individualize your level of effort and commitment.

Joining your faculty peers allows you to glean from the synergy of collaboration.

WHAT:  This spring semester faculty development series will offer faculty members a forum in which to share ideas, ask questions and work together in small groups as you explore infusing the high impact practice of offering global and diverse perspectives in your courses.

WHO:   Susan Belair (Anthro-Hist-Poli Sci-Soc) and Don Beech (Academic Support Services) in conjunction with the office of Global Education and International Services.

WHEN: Selected Wednesdays from 12:00 – 12:50 p.m. in February, March, and April we’ll meet for our workshop sessions, culminating in a final two hour workshop in early June.

February 24:  Susan and Don, along with Alison Albright (High Impact Practices Specialist), will offer an overview of “globalizing your curriculum” especially as it relates to Dee Fink’s method of backward design and using HIPs.  Discuss what global learning outcomes might look like for your course, work in small group activities and begin to consider the next steps.

March 23: How can we know we’ve been successful in globalizing our curriculum?  Susan and Don will discuss assessment tools, various ways to measure the global outcomes you’ve created, and how this will influence your course design.

April 27:  Join featured speaker Andrea Kingston, Digital Scholarship Librarian, as she gives a crash refresher course on effective ways to find course materials that will best match your global learning outcomes.

June (Date TBD):  This two hour hands-on workshop will allow faculty to apply the ideas and concepts from the previous sessions into a revised syllabus with global learning outcomes.
