MCC Student Speaks at YWCA Gala Luncheon

The Rochester YWCA recently held a gala luncheon to celebrate its 125th year, entitled Empowering Women. Among the 600 guests was Dr. Alice Halloway Young, and one of the three speakers was an MCC student, Dellenna Harper. She told of her struggle to overcome a bad family situation, homelessness, and addiction, and said that there were three things that helped her: Jennifer House (a drug rehabilitation facility), the YWCA where she found a safe place to live, and the Human Services program at MCC. She now has an apartment and a full-time job at one of the places where she served her fieldwork experience through MCC. She is one of many successes we can all be proud of!
