Donna Burke & Tom Capuano Present at SUNY OTTER Institute

On June 7th, Donna Burke (Faculty Member) and Tom Capuano (Instructional Designer) presented to over 85 participants at the SUNY OTTER (Online Teaching: Technology and Educational Resources) Institute. The institute runs through the end of this week (June 11th), so there's still time to check out the rest of the sessions.

Title: OSCQR + Creative Pedagogy

Description: Donna and Tom talk openly about aligning the OSCQR (SUNY Online Course Quality Review) rubric standards in course development juxtaposed to the pursuit of creativity in online pedagogy. Do course design standards constrain creativity, or does the existence of standards in fact lead to creativity? At first it seems counterintuitive, but is it possible that because OSCQR provides instructors with standards for course structure and accessibility, that they are then more free to explore creativity in ways they deliver content, engage with students, and deploy assessments?
