McDonough Partners with BOA Editions, LTD on Poetry Event at MCC

On Thursday, April 7, nationally acclaimed poet Matthew Shenoda will read his poetry in the MCC Theatre in Building 4, from 6:30-7:30 PM.  A book signing will immediately follow the reading.

Matthew Shenoda is a writer of enormous gifts.  Poet Patricia Smith considers him “a poet with deep roots in a dozen worlds, a deft and savvy storyteller whose voice can’t be heard everywhere soon enough.”  He is also known as an educator and activist devoted to using art for social change.  In 2006 he received the prestigious American Book Award.

This event intends to provide further educational opportunities for students during National Poetry Month.  It also marks a special partnership between Dean Michael McDonough (Liberal Arts) and BOA Editor/Publisher Peter Conners.  An internationally-known publisher of poetry, BOA’s offices are located in the Village Gate Plaza of Downtown Rochester.  Like most poetry presses, BOA thrives in part on support from patrons and institutions such as our own.  This event makes clear MCC’s commitment to forming valuable community partnerships.

The reading is free and open to the public.  We welcome you and your students to attend.
