D&C Features April 17 Refugee Panel Speaker

“It goes back to the essence of America … America is -- or should be -- a haven for those fleeing violence, oppression, and persecution,” says Jim Morris in one of a set of articles about Somali refugees in the Rochester area in the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper this past Wednesday (https://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2012303270041).

You can hear Jim and three other area experts talk about their work with refugee families in Rochester in a panel presentation and discussion on Tuesday, April 17, from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center, Empire Room (3-209), sponsored by the MCC Diversity Council. The event is free and open to the public. Please note the change in location since the earlier announcement.

The speakers include Jim, who is Associate Director for Refugee, Immigration and Language Services at the Catholic Family Center; Danielle Taana Smith, Associate Professor, RIT; Jay Piper, Principal, RCSD School No. 15, The Children’s School of Rochester; and Jim Sutton, Registered  Physician’s Assistant-Certified, Director of the Office of Community Medicine, Rochester General Health System. Come learn more about the lives of some of your fellow students, colleagues, neighbors, and prospective clients.
