COVID-19 Update: Expanded Pooled Testing Sessions Today through Thursday

Protecting the health and well-being of our students and employees remains MCC’s foremost priority. Thank you for doing your part to protect yourself and others during the spring semester.

Last week’s COVID-19 Test Results* as of Jan. 23:

8 positive cases were identified among students, faculty and staff who participated in MCC-administered testing (pooled and rapid tests only) during the week of Jan. 17.
7 students are isolating off campus.
No students are isolating on campus.
No students are in mandatory or precautionary quarantine.
Monroe County 7-day average positivity rate: 13.8% (Source: New York State)

Verified Employee COVID Isolation and Quarantine Data**:

5 MCC employees received a COVID isolation order based upon on-campus administered testing (pooled and rapid tests) during the week of Jan. 17.
8 employees received a COVID isolation order based upon off-campus administered testing.
No employees are currently subject to a MCDOH quarantine order.

* Because of the increased volume of COVID testing in the local community, MCC students and employees have been recently experiencing a longer-than-usual turnaround time in receiving their pooled testing results. The lab that processes and reports the tests for the College is working to shorten the delays while meeting the rising demand for testing. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

** The above employee data is current and verified through information provided to MCC by the New York State Department of Health, Monroe County Department of Health, MCC Human Resources Department, and the employees’ county of residence where applicable (if outside of Monroe County). The data shown in this section of this report may not be reflected in the data obtained through the SUNY COVID-19 Tracker web portal based upon the date and time of the notification to SUNY by the New York State Department of Health Contact Tracing division and the scheduling of dashboard updates by SUNY.

Expanded Pooled Testing Sessions This Week starting today at 12:30 p.m.

Today’s testing session will run from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Flynn Campus Center, starting in the Forum (3-130). No appointment necessary. Upcoming test dates through Feb. 3, 2022 are available on the pooled testing web page.

Employees Needed to Participate in Baseline COVID-19 Testing today, Jan. 24 through Thursday, Feb. 3
Regardless of vaccination status, if you work in-person at an MCC site or campus, we strongly encourage you to test at MCC’s Pooled Testing Center on the Brighton Campus—at least once—between Monday, Jan. 24 through Thursday, Feb. 3. By doing so, you will help MCC deliver a comprehensive baseline assessment of the absence/presence of COVID-19 within the college community. Learn more in a recent MCC Daily Tribune article.

Please note: MCC's Pooled Testing Center is managed separately from the NYS Community Testing site. Please be sure to test at the testing center where the process begins in the Flynn Campus Center Forum (3-130). Thank you.

If you have not verified vaccination and you plan to come to campus—frequently or infrequently—for any reason, you must test each week for COVID-19. If you have verified vaccination, participation in campus-administered testing is optional.

Maximize your protection against COVID-19. Free booster shots are widely available.
SUNY and MCC encourage you to verify vaccination and get a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine if you are eligible. Why wait? Booster doses are free and widely available to eligible New Yorkers 16 years and older, including at the Monroe County MCC Vaccination site at our Downtown Campus. Reminders:

If you test positive for COVID-19, contact Human Resources and Organizational Development, at 292-2048 or HR@monroecc.edu.
If you feel ill or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (e.g., fever, cough, chills, etc.), please contact your health care provider or urgent care. Do not come to MCC. Do not contact MCC Health Services as responding to student health needs is their No. 1 priority.
If a student notifies you that they tested positive for COVID-19 or have been instructed to quarantine (i.e., have been potentially exposed to the virus), direct them to immediately contact MCC Health Services at 292-2018 or healthsvc@monroec.edu and the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities studentrights@monroecc.edu to confirm next steps.
New York state requires masks to be worn in all indoor public places unless businesses or venues implement a vaccine requirement.
