Pasto-Ziobro Presents at SUNY Tobacco-Free Regional Educational Session

Dolores Pasto-Ziobro, Institutional Compliance Officer and Internal Auditor, served as an invited presenter for a SUNY Tobacco-Free Regional Session on Policy Implementation – Lessons Learned in Syracuse, N.Y.

In her presentation, Dolores shared the importance of education starting with tobacco-free policy development, through the development period and during policy implementation.  She also facilitated a discussion with participants on how to effectively engage supervisors and staff in ongoing tobacco-free implementation.

Chancellor Zimpher and the Board of Trustees are committed to a Tobacco-Free SUNY.  As campuses move forward in 2014-15, there is a great interest in sharing resources to support the implementation, specifically sharing best practices and connections to community resource organizations, through regional meetings.  To date 72% of SUNY campuses are in some stage of implementation with 38 percent of community colleges tobacco-free.
