No Department Left Behind! Everyone Adopted!
No amount of planning and hard work will make the transition to Banner as seamless as we would all like it to be. I would like to just come into work and do everything I’ve always done and somehow look up and say, “Wow, I’ve been working on Banner all morning and never noticed!” Apparently the transition to Banner IS going to require me to do make some changes. Is nothing easy anymore?
The Banner Team has thought of everything (except how to infuse Banner into our brains while we are sleeping) and each academic department will have an adopted mentor or two to help with the transition process. This means that every time you get stuck or have a question you have someone knowledgeable to call.
Although I have made it clear on a number of occasions that I do not consider any question too silly or stupid to ask, (after vacation one year I had to ask my secretary how to log onto SIS because I couldn’t remember!), I encourage you to feel the same when contacting your mentor. If your mentor doesn’t know the answer she/he will find out and get back to you. We are all swirling around in the Banner learning curve. We all need someone to lean on.
Below is a list of the departments and their Banner Mentors. Feel free to call or email this person whenever you have a question about Banner. Make them feel useful and loved!
P.S. To alleviate everyone’s major fear regarding mentors…I am NOT going to be one so you are safe!
