The English Philosophy Department Student Writing Awards Committee wish to congratulate the winners of this years awards.

Rice Award-Creative Non-Fiction Essay:

Cooney Award-Literary Essay:

1st Place: Misty Yarnall - "The Villain is the Hero of His Own Story"

2nd Place: Lucy Behr - "Storytelling's Gendered Voice in Carmen Maria Machado's "The Husband Stitch""

Cloos Susskind Award-Best Poem:

1st Place: Adrian Lotta - "Mold"

2nd Place: Daniel Garlock - "Two Steps Forward and Another Back"

Langlois Award-Short Fiction:

1st Place: Lucy Behr - "August is Over"

2nd Place: Bryan Michielsen - "Photographed"

We regret that the English Philosophy Department will not be able to hold its annual ceremony to honor these students in person due to Covid-19, but we none the less commend them for their scholarship, hard work and dedication. They do us all proud.
