Math Placement system changes from Tiers to Levels

Tiers are dead! Long live Levels!

I regret to inform you of the demise of MCC's much beloved Math Placement Tiers. In order to allow room in the placement system for new courses like MTH 099, we have revamped MCC Math Placements using Levels. Here's a translation between systems, showing initial math course placement for each Level:

    Level 1        TRS 092
    Level 2        TRS 094
Level 3        (was Tier 1) TRS 094 or MTH 130 or MTH 150
Level 4        (was Tier 2) MTH 098 or MTH 130 or MTH 150
Level 5        (new)  MTH 098 or MTH 099&104 or MTH 130 or MTH 150
Level 6        (was Tier 3) MTH 104 or MTH 130 or MTH 135 or MTH 150 or MTH 151
Level 8        (was Tier 4) MTH based on program and prerequisites
(Levels 7 and 9 are reserved for possible future use.)

All students tested in the future will be placed using the new Levels. Previous Math Tier placements have been converted to Levels as student data was transferred from SIS into Banner. You can see placement information in Banner Self Service by looking for "View Test Scores" within "Student Information Menu" in the Faculty/Advisors area.
